ShopForCloud has been acquired by RightScale!

It has been an exciting few months for us. When we launched in February 2012 we would have never guessed that we would be acquired within six months. We are thrilled to announce that RightScale has acquired ShopForCloud, which we are rebranding to PlanForCloud (read the full press release here).

Ali spent seven months last year working as a software engineering intern at RightScale during his PhD. So when we got in touch, they were happy to invite us over to give a demo. This went so well that we were asked to stay for another week to discuss things with the RightScale management team.

Over the course of this week, it became clear that RightScale's expertise and data would provide a massive boost for us, and our cloud cost forecasting tool would perfectly complement RightScale's existing cost reporting and tracking features.

It is fantastic that RightScale has given us the flexibility to setup office in Edinburgh and enabled us to keep providing great new features for free. We are expanding our team and look forward to releasing a whole bunch of cool new features to help you plan for cloud.

You can now forecast your cloud costs without signing up, just go to PlanForCloud.com and log in as a guest.

RightScale have also written a blog about what excites them about this acquisition, you can read that here.
